Typical Day for Lily and James

"Potter will you please just leave me alone." The fiery redhead strode away angry, her flawless hair flying behind her. She was just coming out of Transfiguration, making her way to the common room to put her books away before heading down to dinner for another one of Hogwarts mouth watering feasts.
The arrogant Gryffindor chaser smirked and ran behind her, catching up before turning to face her, walking backwards as he did.
To be honest, you can't blame him for being so arrogant, with looks and talent like his I would be too.  His thick, dark black hair, always messy due to him running his muscular arm through it constantly. His light, hazel eyes behind those glasses of his screamed out all his emotions. When he's sad your heart would wrench, when terrified, you can't help but feel the same way. Not because of a frightening event but because you'd think if this totally hot bad ass is scared then of course I am too. However, no matter how many emotions he could feel, excitement in his eyes is by far the best.

The adrenaline rush  one gets because of the glow. Like being on a rollercoaster for the first time in your life, one you'd want to go on over and over and over and over and over again.  His body's well built too, with his perfectly toned body he's just the cherry on top of an ice cream. Unless you hate cherries and prefer sprinklers. Except if you hate sprinklers, then he's your ice cream, but if you hate that too or you're lactose tolerate and I'm sorry if that's the case since ice cream is one of the things that makes life worth living) he's just your very favorite thing in the world.

Not for the fiery redhead, although if you could dip into her mind, you'd see that she's started noticing these things about the wonderful James Potter as well.  And she hated every second of it. Every time he would pass in the hall, him or his friends she would notice something about him.  like how messy his hair is, however in a way that makes you want to run your hand through it over and over again. Or how  in one of his thick arms he,  held his books  and the other his wand. Noticing this of course enraged Lily since she'd immediately get images of him holding her by the waist instead of those nasty books. Naturally she'd shake her head and storm off in the other direction hoping to become invisible somehow yet at the same time to shine like a star.

"Come on Evans. You know your day just wouldn't be complete if we didn't communicate in some sort of way." He smirked smugly, looking at her with those penetrating eyes. She was about to retort somehow but like I said, those penetrating eyes, immediately she was lost for words and crashed into someone, her books and papers flying out everywhere.

"Oh sorry." She said bending down beside the person as they picked up their things as well.  She looked up to see the blue eyed gaze of Eddie Jemison.  "Hey Eddie." She grinned getting up once all her things were gathered.

"Hey, what was that? You're usually not a cluts." He said in an amused way. Lily couldn't help but feel the blood rushing up to her cheeks.

"She was enticed by me, as usual." James smirked winking at Lily. She was about as red as her hair by this point, mainly because as much as she hated to admit it, he was right.

"Okay, I can see you two are having one of your moments." Eddie said trying to hide laughter. Lily shook her head in disbelief as if trying to say no we don't have moments. But before she could say anything he had spoken, "I'll see you at dinner alright…maybe." He added and then left.

As soon as he was out of earshot, Lily turned to James, anger in her voice."See Potter, according to Eddie now, we have moments."  She glowered at him, furious at the thought.  Her breathing was shallow, but not because of the embarrassment, but because of how close they both were standing.  The outside of her hand met his chest ever so lightly, as she held her books.

"We wouldn't have if you'd just give in and go out with me."  He grinned looking down into her dazzling green eyes.

"Oh Potter," she sighed in an exhausted way taking a step back. "How can I explain this in a way you'll understand.  There's no we, there's you, there's me but there's no us. Never have been,  never will be so please for the love of god and all that is good, just leave me alone." She finished shaking her head in a pleading tone.

There was a moment of intense, awkward silence between the two. The school suddenlt felt very big and very alone. "Alright," he finally sighed, aggravated. With that he turned on his heel and marched off. Although it may seem as if he was done, he clearly wasn't.  "Have a nice life Evans." He said over his shoulder.

"You too Potter." She sighed. As she made her way to the common room, her curls bouncing around her, she realized what had just happened.  She, for about the millionth time, had told Potter that nothing will ever happen between them.  Instead of arguing like she expected him to, he just turned and left. Wishing her a happy life as he did. Suddenly feeling very full and tired she mumbled the password to the common room and entered, crashing on to the couch before heading upstairs.

The idea of James Potter no longer bothering her sank in her brain. Sure the events to what just happened had sunken in only moments ago, however what it meant had only just been absorbed by Lily's talented, large brain.  'It couldn't be true', she thought, 'James Potter has never been the sort to give up…at least not so easily when it comes to girls, quidditch and pranks… he couldn't have just agreed to stop…but he's always been so unpredictable… he has changed over the summer…he's a lot more considerate, and kind…so it is possible that he no longer will bother me…No more of arrogant voice, no more quick comments, no more cute, cocky grin…wait a minute? Cute? No no no no no! James Potter is not cute nor is his grin. And his hair isn't smooth or thick…he isn't hot in general, the only thing he is  James Potter…that's it.' She finished her thought with a sigh.

"Penny for your thoughts?" A voice suddenly rang through the quiet, still air making her jump. Part of her, a part Lily didn't particularly like, longed for it to be James. She turned, more annoyed than before, to see a smiling grey eyed, black haired, also toned best mate of James Potter.

"I never understood what that expression meant." She admitted under her breath.

"Ah, finally something you don't comprehend." He grinned jumping behind the sofa and landing beside her. "So, what's the matter Evans?"

"What makes you think there's something the matter Black?" she retorted still annoyed. "And shouldn't you be at dinner?"

"I would be, if I was hungry, which I'm not." He replied shrugging. Giving her one of his dashing smiles her heart somersaulted, making her even more annoyed. She noticed however that even though his smile had great effect on her, James' smile was much nicer…not to mention more effect.

"That's a first." She snorted back trying to ignore the voice inside her head comparing Sirius' features to James.  Shaking her head in annoyance she gathered up her things and made her way to the girls dormitory where she can be alone and not think for once in her life.

"Ah, I see thinking about James." Sirius smug voice said from behind her. She stopped in disbelief, midway of her path and turned to face him.

"What?" she asked confused, and annoyed. Mainly because he had guessed the source of her problems.

"Every girl he charms goes through his." He replied standing up, picking some of the papers that fluttered out of her bag, which now hung on her forearm.

"J-Potter hasn't charmed me," she sputtered out, "why would he? Why would you think that?" she asked in disbelief.

"Because, every time a girl has feelings for James, she trots up to me asking me questions about him, frustrated because of the effects he's got on them. Face it Evans, he and I along with Lupin, were put on this planet to seduce women." He added with a smug smile on his face. Lily stood there stunned, taking this as an opportunity Sirius opened her hand and placed the papers in them, closed them but kept his hold on them.

"No, actually you weren't." she informed him, annoyed,  trying to breathe. 'How is anyone this cocky? Honestly, it's ridiculous, I'm surprised neither of them have fallen off the edge of the planet. And the planet doesn't even have an edge, goes to show that's how big their heads are.' She thought then took a deep breath. "And even if you were, I'm not stupid enough to fall either one of you, except possibily Lupin," she found herself adding, then shaking her head and whipping her hand out of his and smacking his, "but that's beside the point."

"Oh? So what is your point dear Lily?"

"My point is, I'm not enticed by your stupid friend Potter so get that out of your thick skull. In fact-" she opened her notebook and scribbled furiously on a piece of paper, 'you suck' on it in big letters.  Realizing that Remus might see this, she immediately wrote' to Potter and Black' at the top. "Here's this note, see I don't like you. Read it, memorize it, eat it if you have to as long as you both get the picture that I don't like any of you and you should just leave me alone."

"Ah, the first step, denial." Sirius replied smug stuffing the paper in his pocket.

"How long is that step supposed to last, since it's been here for I don't know…um….the last four years." She asked annoyed.

"Soon you'll be light headed, do you want help getting up the stairs, changing maybe?" he asked rubbing her shoulders in a careful and caring manner. His smoky grey eyes hooked her in but not deep enough, unlike James where he just hypnotized her.

"Shut up Black," she replied annoyed.  And with that, she turned her hair smacking Sirius in the face, but before she could go up the steps he called her again.

"Evans." He said close to the little hall that lead to the common room exit.

"What?" Lily turned, asking wearily.

"If I were you, I'd give him a chance." He said in all seriousness now. Lily couldn't help but be hooked like this, since despite his name Sirius is never serious. "He's been after you for four years, I think that says something." And with that he turned and left, Lily stood in amazement staring into nothing but the couch. Shaking her head for about the tenth time that day, she marched up the girls dormitory staircase.

After showering and getting into her pajamas, she suddenly felt hungry again, not bothering to go downstairs she whipped out a can of corn she carried for the train ride in case she got hungry. Opening it with magic, she started to eat the sweet corn with a spoon as she did her homework. The fact that she had food occupied her thoughts and allowed her to finish her work without getting bored causing her thoughts to drift to Potter. Once she was done, everyone was downstairs in the common room hanging about excited that it's the weekend, Lily still feeling tired, if not more than before crawled into bed after packing her bag up and closed the curtains around her.

It wasn't until one in the morning when she woke up. That's one of Lily Evans' flaws. Once she sleeps early she can't help but get up early. Not seven am early, but one am early. Sighing, and getting up after failed tries of going back to sleep she got herself a bag of jellybeans, a good book and headed downstairs with the blanket she'd been using since she was a baby. Curling up with a good book by the fire and a bag of jellybeans sounded good right about now.

At least they did until she saw the tired face of James Potter on the seat she was planning to sit in. Feeling frustrated that once again he had found a way to bother her even without intending too she turned, heading back upstairs. She didn't want to deal with him right now, or ever for that matter. However a thought struck her, she shouldn't have to limit herself in her activities just because of his presence, not to mention today's promise. Well not so much a promise but the agreement.  Smiling smugly, she turned and continued down the steps. He looked up, surprised at the sound of her footsteps, even more surprised when he saw it was her who had woken up at this paranormal hour.

"What are you doing up Evans?" He asked as she took the seat opposite to him.

"Couldn't sleep." She replied shrugging. About to open her book she noticed how he was clutching his right, arm. Frowning at the giant blue blob that he clung onto very tight she spoke up. "What happened?" she asked suddenly leaping up and standing next to him taking his arm, cradling it actually gently.

This may seem surprising to you, but this is typical Lily Evans. No matter who the person is, or what the thing is, any breathing living creature injured pulled on Lily's heart strings and she had no intentions other than to help it. James gave her a look of surprise and disbelief, then shaking his head his expression went back to normal. shrugging he replied. "Nothing, the buldger decided to take a whack at my arm, see if it was as strong as the bat."

"You're a chaser though, not a beater." She replied frowning, trying not to smile at his little joke.

"I know that, you know that, but I don't think the stupid thing knows that." He replied. this time Lily couldn't help but smile.

"Why haven't you visited the nurse?" she asked in a scolding tone.

"Thought it would die off, but I haven't been able to sleep from it." He sighed trying not to flinch once Lily fingered the blue blob that was his arm carefully.

"Hold on, I think I've got just the thing for it." She got up rushing back upstairs, trying not to wake anyone up, she got the cream that her dad made her carry around. It was meant for sports really, strained muscles, pulled muscles, pain you know the typical injuries you gain in a sport but really it was great for everything. James noticing this once she had come back down raised an eyebrow and spoke. "You play a sport?" he asked in disbelief, amused.

"I play three." She replied, trying not to smile at the disbelief and impressed look on his face. Opening the cap she squeezed some on her hand and began to rub his arm carefully and slowly. He flinched once or twice but put a brave face on either way.

"Really?" he asked breaking the silence, "and what are they?"

"Swimming, horse riding, and volleyball." She replied, trying to sound casual.

"Horse riding?" he repeated. She nodded looking at him, he looked down at his arm which was feeling better. Naturally he wasn't going to let her know that. "Explains the fantastic legs." He muttered. Lily having heard this blushed as red as the fire that glowed, giving them the warm romantic environment one saw in movies. "What are you doing standing?" he asked in a scolding way. "Come here." He wound his arm around her waist and pushed her down on to the arm of his seat. Never removing his arm from her waist, Lily noticing this blushed deeper, her breathing became shallow.  James on the other hand, thrilled as he was felt surprised that she hadn't at least smacked his arm away.

To his disappointment she had finished rubbing the ointment on his arm and was placing the cap on it. "There we go, that should do it." She said as she placed the cap on. Thanks to James and the fire she was feeling rather warm, so without really noticing her actions she slowly took off her robe revealing her tank top and baggy trousers that clung onto her waist perfectly.  Tying her hair up she headed back upstairs robe in hand along with the cream, throwing them away on her bed then coming back down stairs.

"Aren't you going back to bed?" James asked when she had opened her book.

"Like I said, can't sleep." She replied never meeting his eyes, not out of anger but out of fear of what might happen.

"I didn't see you at dinner." He randomly commented.

"That's because I wasn't at dinner."

"Why not?"

"Because your constant  presence annoys me, then you open your big mouth and well, we both know what happens after that, it's just exhausting." She sighed finally looking back up at him.  surprised to see hurt in his eyes she regretted what she had said as soon as the words came out of her mouth.  'Really Lily? Now you're the bad guy. Honestly there was no need to be so harsh on him…sure since third year he's been a bother…but you were both kids…this year he hasn't been as big of a prat as before…and neither last year, except he's a much better person this year…what am I saying?! No he's not! Name one thing that he's done this entire year that makes him a better person. Well let's see he showed that second year how to rebind her book after a group of slytherin third years ripped it up. he helped a group of third years with an essay, you know, the extremely difficult one that you had gotten.  Not to mention he helped you get over that horrid break up…remember that?  They haven't played one cruel prank all year…maybe they're growing up.  Face it Evans he's changed into a much better person, you don't have an excuse anymore so just open up.' her brain continued thoughts like this for another minute.

She must've looked pretty ridiculous since James then spoke up, concerned and amused. "Evans, are you alright?"  he asked trying to hide the amusement from his tone, not to mention the concern. Lily finally hearing his voice shook her head out of her thoughts and nodded.  Unable to speak   to having realized something, she no longer has an excuse to despise the git. She might actually fall for him…correction she is falling for him. the way his eyes took over her entire body, his smile weakened her knees,  his hair attracted her quiet a lot, especially when he ran a hand through his hair like he was doing now. 'Oh no' Lily thought 'say something you moron!'

"James," she quickly said grabbing his attention. He looked up at her surprised yet curious as to know what she's about to say next.  "I'm sorry, that was rude and mean of me."

"Don't worry about it." He grinned starting to stand up ignoring the pain in his throbbing arm as he used it to help himself off the chair. "goodnight." He added as he made his way to the staircase.

"You're going to bed?!" she asked in an annoyed and surprised tone. That surely got his attention, he smirked pleased but then turned wiping it off his face. Unable to do so he just smiled. 'Smile number four, the sweet, calm smile' Lily thought.

"Unless you don't want me to." He said heading towards her instead of continuing to the stairs.

"Why wouldn't I want you to?" she asked rubbing her neck, she does this when trying to hide something. Although what lily was trying to hide was hidden by Lily, as she didn't know what it is she's trying to hide. However we all know what she's trying to hide.

"I don't know," he shrugged taking a couple of steps closer, she had gotten up by now. "You tell me."

"I can't tell you since-"

"since it would be utterly embarrassing for you?" James interrupted asking.

"No," she replied in a matter of fact way. "probably because I haven't got a clue." She admitted in a frustrated manner, blushing as those perfect eyes met her green ones. 'lily breathe, he's just the same git that you knew, except on a nicer level…no big you don't have feelings for him. forget how gorgeous he is…in fact forget your brain even said that…and forget about all the wonderful things he's done this and last year…even though there are a lot more than what was listed earlier…oh for the love of god just breathe. Do not show him you have feelings for him because guess what you don't!' she kept repeating the last statement over and over again in her head until it was just 'do not  show him the feelings you have for him' naturally after this last statement repeated over and over in her head she couldn't help but realize that the reason she's been infuriated with him for past couple of months, despite the fact that he hasn't accomplished any of his old antics that used to get to her, was because she's let her shield from the armor she wears as protection from horrid people,  down and let him get to her.

This naturally made her much more angry but with herself more than him. 'but why lily? Why are you angry? It's normal to have feelings for someone.' Her brain screamed in her head. 'Not when the someone is James Potter!' she yelled back to her brain. 'He's changed whether you like it or not. For once in your life stop being so stubborn and accept the facts of life.' He retorted back. Of course she would said something else if the fact that she was stubborn hadn't sunken in her brain already.

"you look nicer with your hair down," he suddenly broke the intense silence where they just stared into each other's eyes by putting his arm behind her head, bringing them closer together, and pulling on the hair tie smoothly, her hair falling behind her bare back like a waterfall, the curls bouncing.  She smiled, still tingling from where his hand met her back briefly.  She exhaled trying to breathe normally.  He didn't just top there though, after her hair had flowed behind her back, the curls at the end bouncing, he started to play with it, hesitant but still.  Placing some of it in front of her, letting it rest on her bare chest.  "There," he finally spoke, "that's much better." He smiled, lily blushed  her crimson color. James smiled again, "that really is a lovely color on you." He sighed in an enticed way, his fingers brushing gingerly against her cheek.

'Lil stop! Control yourself, mind over body! Mind over body!' she screamed in her head trying to get her feet to take a step back. 'that only works on the mind not the heart!' her brain mocked her back. 'lily it's okay, people make mistakes all the time so just give him a chance, if it's a mistake you'll learn from it, otherwise you'll never know.' Her brain replied back. 'but what if it's not a mistake? What if I actually fall in love with him?' she asked almost in tears. You might be confused as to why she was, but I'll explain. You see Lily's fragile in some areas like the rest of us, one of them is she doesn't like feeling pain. She's one of the most happiest, cheerful people you'll ever meet and little things upset her, but when she's upset it's a blow. She's scared that by taking the risk of falling for James she will get hurt in some way. And let's face it, who on earth wants to get hurt?  'what's so bad about that?' her brain asked, raising a very good question.

"Lily," James spoke, "you're doing it again." He said amused, smirking that adorable smirk

Lily shook her head before answering. "What?" she asked confused, dazed.

"You're staring with a weird look on your face," he continued amused yet curious and confused. Lily blushed deeper.  'lily, it's okay you don't have to be so strong all the time' her brain sighed still trying to persuade her to take a leap.  Apparently it was in cahoots with her heart since it was pounding to do the same thing.

"Sorry," she shook her head again, "I've just got a lot on my mind." She sighed wanting to sit down.

"Alright then," that was the second time she'd heard him say that, he nodded and stepped back. "I'll leave you to your thoughts." He started to turn and leave. 'lily go, this might be your only chance. What you told him today, he's sticking to it. Come on lily, if you don't you will regret it.' Her heart and brain spoke together this time. Taking a deep breath she stopped in front of him. a look of confusion crossed and stayed on his face. "what's the matter?"

"What if I don't want to be left alone?" Lily asked blushing a little taking a step forward. The confused look left his face and a look of understanding appeared. He smirked a little.

"But you said earlier today, along with many other days that you'd rather be left alone." He reminded her.

"What if I changed my mind?"

"But you didn't."

"What if I did, a girl can change her mind."

"That's true, I suppose," he nodded in agreement,   taking her hands he looked her straight in the eye, "but you aren't one of those people who change their minds easily."

"That's not true," she replied in an annoyed tone, even though she knew perfectly well how right he is. "when something big takes place I have the tendency to reconsider my choice." She shrugged entwining her fingers in his. He took another step closer, they were only a couple of centimeters away.
"Lily, what's this really about?" he asked looking serious. Lily took a deep breath, still unsure at what she was about to do and how.

"See, well…I have this friend-"

"Is she cute?" He interrupted, she tried not to smile.

"Focus Potter." She replied in an annoyed tone.

"Right sorry, keep going." He said amused.

" she's suddenly starting to have feelings for this guy because he's gone from a complete git that words can't describe," she said in an amazed way that someone could be that big of a git, "to this different, sweet guy and he's actually pretty hot." He gave me a look. "We just noticed," she shrugged, he smiled amused. "She's really confused as to what to do, and she's asking me what to do. Should she give him a chance and go out with him? Or just put with him for the rest of the year?" Lily sighed. He nodded.

"What do you think she should do? What would you do if you were in her position?" he asked. She gave him an annoyed look.

"Potter, there's a reason I'm asking you." She said her tone matching her expression.

"Right," he nodded blushing a little. Lily smiled it was the first time she'd ever seen him embarrassed.  He let go of one hand to run his through his hair. Lily sighed wishing she could do that. James didn't notice though.  "well, life wouldn't be life without a little risk so she should take a leap." He finally sighed looking at her. She nodded in agreement.

"Thanks James." She replied nodding as she smiled. She said his name again. James smiled to himself, a rush of hope running through him. Taking a deep breath, one James wouldn't notice  and closed the last couple of centimeters, meeting his lips with hers.  'oh god that feels so good.' Lily leaned in to the kiss, deepening it.

'Whoa! What just happened?' James asked his heart pounding against Lily's body as he wrapped his arm around her waist. 'lily was the friend you idiot! She's the friend! You've finally got her! Stop talking to me and kiss her back!' his brain bellowed back at him. scooping her up more he kissed her back passionately. Snaking her arms around his neck , letting him gather her up like a blanket. He lifted her off her feet lightly, taking advantage of this to come closer to him, she smoothly wound her legs around his waist.  Suddenly she was laying on something soft, James beside her kissing her down her neck.  Realizing that she still had her leg wound around his waist  she removed it, only to have him rubbing it as he met her lips.

"Does this mean you're finally going to go out with me?" he asked against her lips holding her tight against him. she smiled and kissed him lightly before answering.

"Yes." She replied. the look on his face was pure happiness as he kissed her one more time.

"And for the record, you're not cute you're beautiful." He said. Blushing Lily crept closer to him, cuddling into his chest, she felt him wound his arms her waist protectively,  and she snoozed happily, not caring what people would say the next day.
